Week 3: Documentation

This week I kept working on my documents until I finished. Below are the images of the rest of my documents.

  • DOCUMENT 17
ABOVE: This document is a representation of my observation of the crossing light. The horizontal lines show a steady light and the vertical lines show the flashing motion of the light. This document shows the how the light transitions from green to red, notifying people to stop crossing the road.

ABOVE: This is an iteration of DOCUMENT 17 showing the colour in which the light is showing during this period.

ABOVE: This is an iteration of DOCUMENT 18 showing the transition between the green and the red light.

ABOVE: This document is a small flat bent piece of wire. It is an iteration of DOCUMENT 6.

ABOVE: This document is an iteration of DOCUMENT 20. Although difficult to see in the photo, I have enlarged the previous document and twisted it to give it a 3D effect.

ABOVE: This is an iteration of DOCUMENT 1 and DOCUMENT 7. I have combined the idea of structure and intersection using layered straight edges (DOC 1) with the idea of variety and diversity in terms of the people using a range of papers and materials to create the document (DOC 7).

ABOVE: This is an iteration of DOCUMENT 22.

ABOVE: This is an iteration of DOCUMENT 23.

ABOVE: This is an iteration of DOCUMENT 22 and DOCUMENT 10. I explored layering with the transparent film by gluing it to a piece of card which created an interesting texture within the structure confinements of how I cropped the film.

ABOVE: This is an iteration of DOCUMENT 25. I was very interested in the textural effect created in the previous document.

ABOVE: This is a iteration of DOCUMENT 26. This explores structure and form with the textural effect.

ABOVE: This is an iteration of DOCUMENT 7. It depicts the collection and connection of groups and individual strangers that wait at the side of the road together. The boxes show how people tend to keep to themselves as they wait but the watercolours show how people connect on different levels.

ABOVE: This is another watercolour experiment.

ABOVE: This is an iteration of DOCUMENT 29 and DOCUMENT 28. It explores the clusters of variety of people that make up the space.

ABOVE: This is an iteration of DOCUMENT 30. It explores the clusters of people in context of the space and how they move across the transitional space.
  • DOCUMENT 32
ABOVE: This is another watercolour exploration. It is an iteration of DOCUMENT 9, using the idea of strips of an image and in this piece I have reconfigured their sequence to reiterate structure.
  • DOCUMENT 33
ABOVE: This document is a visual representation of the sound of the pedestrian crossing signal which can be heard in both of my audio recordings. The dots represent the periodic ‘beeps’ released by the button on the traffic light pole as pedestrians wait for the traffic to cease. The closer the dots, the fast they sound. This signals that people can travel across the crossing safely. This document expresses the relationship between sound and time in a visual manner.

ABOVE: This is an combined iteration of DOCUMENT 33 and DOCUMENT 3. The pencil rubbing expresses the constant hum and unstructured background noise which can also be identified in my audio recordings.

ABOVE: This document is an iteration of the SUBCONSCIOUS + TRANSITIONAL model I made in the model making exercise and it also explores the idea of intersection.
  • DOCUMENT 36
ABOVE: This is another exploration of the site through photography. This document highlights the importance of time in the space and how through structure and conformity, there is very little consistency. This is a dependent space that can only exist in the presence external factors, giving it its sense of consistent temporality.
